It has been discovered that one of the reasons the Antec NEO480 stops booting is because the capacitors go bad. At least in my PSU that was the case. And since I see people talking about it in many forums, I suspect it is a common problem with this power supply.
It seems a lot of people have had the problem of theit Antec NEO480 not always booting. I experienced this mostly after unplugging from the outlet for any period of time. It just got worse and worse, never knowing if it was going to finally boot or if it was the end of it’s short life.
Behold it wouldn’t start for the longest time when I was at AsylumLAN, but a fellow gamer and tourney staff member sold me his extra PSU. I ended up giving the Neopower 480W to a friend for his new PC, but warned him of the issue.
He suspected what the problem was (it makes since because it’s like you have to plug it in for a while to charge up). It was probably bad capacitors. Well, he opened it up the other day and discovered they were oozing out. He replaced the three 3300uf caps with some from a salvaged PSU and it fixed the problem.
